What We Do 

We provide two types of veterinary advisement services: On-demand urgent care (teletriage) for immediate concerns and bespoke recommendations (teleadvice) for long term health. Such as nutrition and other integrative options. 

After-hours urgent care and lengthy in-depth consultations on alternative therapies are two areas where traditional animal hospitals often struggle to meet demand due to limited time and resources. We’re here to bridge that gap.

 

What We Don't Do 

We do not take the place of hands on visits to your in person veterinarian.  

We do not prescribe Antibiotics, Antifungals, AntiviralsAntiparasitics or Controlled Medications. We believe that if a medication needs a prescription to be obtained then the pet should be seen by an in person veterinarian. 

This is a teleadvice/triage service. We do not diagnose, treat, or prescribe. This is not a substitute for a Veterinary-Client-Patient Relationship (VCPR).

 

Our founder created Lewis so that pet owners would never have to face a medical concern alone. We provide immediate, 24/7 access to licensed veterinarians, offering advice and monitoring instructions from the comfort of your home. Whether you are traveling, in a remote area, or your local clinic isn't available, our team is ready to help.

We provide bespoke recommendations designed to work in harmony with—not replace—the essential care provided by your pet's local animal hospital. Our telemedicine services act as a collaborative bridge, offering personalized wellness plans that complement your primary vet's hands-on diagnostics and treatments. We are happy to share our findings and coordinate directly with your local veterinarian to ensure your pet receives seamless, comprehensive care.

You can instantly connect with a Lewis veterinarian from any computer or mobile device—no app downloads required. Our doctors assess your pet in real-time to provide a clear plan of action, whether that involves guided home monitoring until your family vet is available or a coordinated referral to the nearest emergency hospital for life-saving intervention. 

If you are drawn to holistic supportive care our veterinarians will guide you in the choices available for your pet. Veterinarians use these therapies to complement standard mainstream care. 

 

Whenever possible, consultations are conducted via secure video, allowing our veterinarians to visually assess your pet and provide the highest standard of care. Through video consultations, we help you understand your pet’s symptoms, determine whether care can likely be safely managed at home, or guide you quickly to in-person emergency services when necessary.

If video is not available, phone consultations may be used as an alternative to ensure you still receive timely veterinary guidance. We know how stressful and expensive emergency visits can be, and our goal is to bring clarity, reassurance, and expert direction to every decision you make.

Is video better than a phone call?

Yes. Video consultations allow your veterinarian to visually assess your pet, which often leads to more accurate guidance and better clinical decision-making. Whenever possible, video is the preferred option for care.

When is a phone call used instead?

Phone consultations are available when video is not possible. Your Lewis veterinarian will still provide professional guidance and advise if a video visit or in-person care becomes necessary.

Can I switch during the consult?

Yes. If a consultation begins by phone and visual assessment becomes important, your veterinarian may recommend switching to video to better evaluate your pet.
